Minster Back Pain Relief via Chiropractic Treatment Plan of Manipulation and Exercise

A new clinical trial is underway to study the effectiveness of a 6-week specific rehab program blending education and exercises on walking capacity in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication. Minster Chiropractic Center knows these Minster spinal pain conditions very well…and offers a relieving treatment plan of Cox® Technic spinal manipulation and mobilization with exercise!

EXERCISE PROGRAM FOR LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS TESTED

The aim of this preposed study is to analyze whether adding an exercise program to an educational program can enhance walking capacity in those who have lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication. This is a randomized controlled clinical trial with 60 participants who will be randomly divided into either the control group or the intervention group. The intervention group will receive an educational program plus an exercise program, while the control group will only get the educational program. The primary outcome measure is walking capacity, while the secondary outcome measures are pain intensity, disability level, and quality of life. (1)  Minster Chiropractic Center knows our Minster spinal stenosis patients are very concerned about these outcomes!

LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS WITH NEUROGENIC CLAUDICATION

Lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication is a condition that produces narrowing of the spinal canal in the low back area, resulting in pressure on the nerves. This can result in pain, numbness, and weakness in the legs and buttocks. In really bad cases, it can also make walking quite difficult. The condition is a very common one in people over the age of 50. These are just the people in Minster who need to keep (or at least begin) exercising!

THE EXERCISES

The specific exercises that will be utilized in this study are designed to improve walking capacity by stretching and strengthening the muscles around the spine. The hope is that by performing these exercises regularly, patients will experience less pain and disability and experience a better quality of life.

THE CONTROL GROUP

The control group in this trial will only get an educational program about their condition and how to manage it. While education is important, it is not usually enough on its own to deliver significant relief from symptoms. That is why adding exercise is so valuable. It involves the back pain patient in his or her relief!
