Minster Anti-inflammatory, Anti-Tumor (and more) Healing with Frankincense and Myrrh

Frankincense and myrrh, two esteemed gifts taken from the gum resins of trees - the Boswellia and the Commiphora, respectively – make remarkable partners in healing! Both have been incorporated throughout history in perfume, incense, aromatherapy, and medicine, particularly Chinese medicine. Their anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, and more assets deal with issues with many different health conditions, many that Minster Chiropractic Center knows bother our Minster chiropractic patients and/or loved ones who may want to understand better!

THE COMBINATION: Frankincense and Myrrh

Chinese medicine admires frankincense and myrrh for their extensively helpful health effects. Used together, their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and significantly for anti-tumor effects stopped growth of U266 multiple myeloma cells. (1) In Chinese medicine, frankincense-myrrh are parts of an anti-tumor drug for various cancers with recent research showing its effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). How? By regulating pathological processes like cytokine-receptor binding and pathways and affecting the blood vessels that feed tumors in HCC. Tumor volume was decreased, and pathological structure was weakend with frankincense and myrrh treatment. (2) Low dose frankincense/myrrh modulated urotheilial wound healing to help symptoms of acute interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome.  (3) The frankincense/myrrh comination proves itself to be a winning/healing one!

NEUROPATHIC PAIN

Minster Chiropractic Center appreciates combinations of treatments to help our Minster chiropractic patients seeking healing. Chinese medicine treats diabetic neuropathy, a serious complication of diabetes and trigger of kidney disease, by regulating pathways involved in the glucose/lipid metabolism regulation, antioxidation, anti-inflammation, anti-fibrosis, etc. (4) Chinese medicine treatment of neuropathic pain commonly involves the frankincense-myrrh combination as it is described as being able to stimulate blood and disperse blood stasis. The mix was put to the test and found to ease neuropathic pain likely related to neuro-inflammatory agents TLR4 and MyD88 and to averting TRPV1 and inflammatory factor expression. (5). Minster Chiropractic Center knows all this detail may not be your “thing” of wanting to understand as in depth as this, but we want to share the whole picture if only to highlight how well frankincense-myrrh eases neuropathic pain, a great effect!
