Minster Chiropractic Tip: Chondroitin Sulfate for Diabetes Management

March 23, 2022

In the nutritional supplement world, chondroitin sulfate is recognized for its benefit for cartilage and disc in Minster back pain. Its reputation keeps growing for influence on specific spinal issues from cancer to knee osteoarthritis to cells and nerves. Recent research demonstrates positive effects on diabetes and its related osteoporosis and inflammation. Minster Chiropractic Center shares these new studies to help our Minster chiropractic back pain as well as diabetic patients.

CHONDROITIN SULFATE: Diabetes and Inflammation

Chondroitin sulfate is a powerhouse potential for diabetes in addition to disc nutrition. It’s reported that it can reduce blood glucose and relieve symptoms related to diabetes. In new studies, it alleviated diabetic osteoporosis and mended the microstructure of bone via its anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and bone metabolism-regulating properties in diabetic rats. The research studies keep coming! A recent report states that these outcomes were obtained after 10 weeks of consuming chondroitin sulfate, and serum inflammatory cytokines (TNF-A, IL-1, IL-6, MCP-1) lowered. (1) Part of the chiropractic treatment plan at Minster Chiropractic Center is nutrition. The use of chondroitin sulfate is showing benefit that Minster chiropractic patients may enjoy.

CHONDROITIN SULFATE: Diabetic Osteoporosis

In another study of oral chondroitin sulfate and whether it has anti-diabetic properties, chondroitin sulfate was taken for 2 months. Preventive properties were revealed. It improved the symptoms of diabetes by raising body weight, decreasing water or food intake, reducing blood glucose, raising bone mineral density (BMD), repairing bone morphology and reducing femoral osteoclasts. These benefits prompted the researchers to write that chondroitin sulfate could prevent diabetic osteoporosis through the reduction of blood glucose along with antioxidative stress, anti-inflammation, and regulation of serum levels of OPG/RANKL. In conclusion, they wrote that chondroitin sulfate can capably prevent bone loss triggered by diabetes. (2) Minster Chiropractic Center presents this research as a hopeful option for our Minster chiropractic patients with osteoporosis.
