Chondroitin Sulfate Helps Minster Osteoporosis

August 08, 2023

The “osteo” conditions gain much attention at Minster Chiropractic Center and in the research labs. “Chondroitin sulfate” gains a lot of attention for the positive effect it has on osteoarthritis, so researchers are turning attention to its use with the other “osteo”: osteoporosis. Chondroitin sulfate is a non-pharmaceutical intervention that is showing benefit in managing and making better osteoporosis which we know our Minster chiropractic patients with osteoporosis will value. Gentle chiropractic care of osteoporosis can be relieving.

OSTEOPOROSIS

Osteoporosis is an age-related condition that affects millions of people and a skeleton-deteriorating condition produced by a deficiency of calcium often resulting in painful bone fractures and decreased mobility. Postmenopausal osteoporosis is the most common type of osteoporosis. One way to attack osteoporosis is by balancing calcium levels in the body; however, it can be difficult to do alone. Luckily, chondroitin sulfate has emerged as a natural companion in this effort to help osteoporosis caused by calcium deficiency.

CHONDROITIN SULFATE FOR OSTEOPOROSIS – A suitable addition.

Chondroitin sulfate’s ability to adjust lipid metabolism by breaking lipids down into littler particles can allow its cellular absorption to be easier. This process permits cells to use the lipids better, leading to stronger bones and muscles. Chondroitin sulfate also helps decrease inflammation and pain related to osteoporosis which may help handle the effects of calcium deficiency-related osteoporosis. In a newer rat study, researchers tested chondroitin sulfate for osteoporosis and compared it to a calcium supplement, too. Chondroitin sulfate and chondroitin sulfate oligosaccharide more effectively restored femur calcium, bone fracture deflection, and serum indices and improved cortical bone density, mechanical strength, and mineral content of bone. Their deductions showed excitement for the potential of postponing the progression of postmenopausal osteoporosis with daily use. (1) This is good news for Minster osteoporosis patients to add to their calcium supplementation routine.

CALCIUM FOR OSTEOPOROSIS – What about a combo?

Osteoporosis sufferers are recommended calcium all the time. Many of us are calcium deficient. Both being non-drug interventions, calcium and chondroitin sulfate may complement each other’s efforts. Chondroitin sulfate, a natural compound existing in the human body, has been shown to be an effective solution for handling osteoporosis triggered by a deficinency of calcium. Another study stated that the combined action of chondroitin sulfate and calcium alleviated osteoporosis via gut microbiota and metabolomics in low calcium rats. Chondroitin sulfate reduced the inflammatory response, decreased short chain fatty acid synthesis in intestinal flora, halted osteoclast differentiation, promoted the absorption of calcium and antioxidant mechanism, and improved osteoporosis. (2) Now that is an effective osteoporosis nutrition combo!
